History:
 |
In 1935 Ernest A. Miller and his wife, Florence, purchased
a small piece of property near 4th North & 2nd West,
which at that time was just outside of present day Hyrum,
Utah. |
| The
land was swamp, but E.A. prevailed and filled it in. And
in 1936 E.A. started a small meat packing facility on this
site. E.A. Miller Meat & Livestock Co., as it was known,
processed some 18 to 20 animals a week, which included veal,
sheep, pigs, and cattle. Custom butchering was also provided.
Today, E.A. Miller, Inc. has grown to be one of the largest
beef packers in the United States. 2000 head of cattle are
processed every day. The transport part of the operation
began with a single pickup and trailer. Today, Miller
Brothers Trucking Co., owned by Miller's Blue Ribbon
Beef, has more than 100 Volvo and International tractors
along with Utility trailers to perform this end. In 1987
E.A. Miller. Inc. became Miller's Blue Ribbon Beef. |
